At first glance, Telegram looks like a carbon copy of Whatsapp. Same style, same design, (more or less) same functions. Yet it is not so. Telegram, in fact, hides some secrets capable of satisfying even the most demanding users of the social network. Among the multiple social features that made the fortune of social media and which were then taken up by many other messaging platforms, the Telegram groups they are one of the most important.
Along with chatbots and stickers, groups are the distinctive trait of social media created by the Russian developer Pavel Durov, allowing thousands of people to exchange messages, audio, video and files up to 2GB in a simple and immediate way. Messaging app, as well as a direct competitor of WhatsApp, Telegram is free and can be downloaded from the Play Store or App Store, or on a PC. What most differentiates the two social networks lies in the safety parameters adopted. While the WhatsApp protocol does not ensure any shielding from any external intrusions, the Telegram one uses point-to-point cryptographic keys to make messages and multimedia content unreadable.
By starting a secret communication session (secret chat) users can protect their social communications. You can decide to send self-deleting messages within a few seconds (even 2) or a few days (1 week at most). Messages cannot be sent to other users e they leave no trace on the company's servers.

Telegram connects its users through a unique and distributed network with data centers around the world. Messages can be accessed from any phone, tablet or computer. Data will never be lost and users can start writing a message on one device and finish on another.
Also, the app merges the maximum security of users to ease of use of the social network. The user can change their overall visibility and add individual exceptions for any category, from phone number to last access time.

2. Telegram groups and supergroups

I groups Telegram are collective chats in which they can participate up to 200 users simultaneously. Like "single" conversations, within a group each participant can send messages, files, voice notes, stickers and any other permitted content. Over 200 subscribers (and up to one maximum of 200 thousand), Telegram groups become supergroups, but the features are the same.
While channels are a means for administrators to send notices to their subscribers, in groups all users can interact with each other
Access to Telegram groups depends on the privacy level set. If a group is public, anyone can find it and join it on their own. If a group is private, to join it you must be added manually by an administrator (who can share access to the group via a special link) or by group members, if the settings allow it.

3. How to search groups on Telegram from smartphone

To search for groups on Telegram using an Android smartphone or iPhone, start the Telegram app, press the icon magnifying glass top right e type the name of the group to look for. This displays matching search results under the wording Global search.
The groups are recognizable from number of members included in them. If the number of subscribers is present, the result refers to a channel. To see even more results, tap on Show more top right.
If you don't know the group name, you can try it type in keywords, which can help you find what you're looking for, if the terms are present in the group name.

4. Join a Telegram group

Once the group of interest has been identified, to join it, press on the relative preview and then tap on the button Join present at the bottom, to start interacting with other users.

5. How to leave a Telegram group

To exit the group, tap the group name on the Telegram home screen (or search for its name by pressing the magnifying glass icon at the top right of the app home screen) and follow the path ⁝ > Leave the group.

6. Search for groups on the Telegram Italia website

Another solution to search groups on Telegram is to make use of some websites and act as a search engine for groups and channels present within the famous messaging platform. Telegram Italy is the web portal that aggregate Telegram bots, groups and channels, allowing you to easily enter the latter, using a special button.
First connect to the home page of the site and then click on the item Groups in the top bar (from which you can select one of the various categories e.g. Culture, Finance, Games, etc.). In this way, you will be able to view the section dedicated to groups and use the field above to search for a group.
Having identified the group of interest, click on the button Add to Telegram, in correspondence of the nominative of the same. The user will be redirected to the Telegram application and will be able to join the group.

7. Use Top Telegram Groups to search for groups on Telegram

As an alternative to Telegram Italia, you can connect to the site Top Telegram Groups showing the list of most popular Telegram groups. To view only the groups in Italian, click on Italian voice in the left menu.
Once the group of interest has been identified, the user can join it by pressing on Telegram symbol next to the group singled out. Again the user will be automatically redirected to the application by Telegram.
