GTA V, all about the levels of suspicion and escape from the police

Historical and fundamental component in the saga Grand Theft Auto it is the constant vigilance of the police to convict criminals, catch murderers and bring them to justice, or simply to the coffin.


In GTA V, the suspect levels have been redesigned to conform to innovative gameplay. Previously, there were six levels of suspicion, represented by as many stars that appeared at the top right of the screen. To clear the level of suspicion, one could: paint the car; to die; find bonuses scattered around the game map; and in GTA IV escape from the investigation area for a certain period of time (estimated 40 minutes on average to escape the sixth level of suspicion).


While for the first levels of suspicion the possibility of escape up to GTA: San Andreas it was well thought out, in the highest places instead a real battle opened up between us and the police almost always ready to end up to our disadvantage. Now things have changed markedly.

In GTA V, to start the “suspect hunt” you obviously have to comment on a crime. Repeatedly beating passers-by, shooting in the air, stealing, running over pedestrians or beating a policeman will give us the first star of suspicion. The more serious and briefly repeated crimes we commit over time, the more our level of suspicion will soar.


The map is distributed in two major locations: Los Santos e Blaine County. In urban areas the police response to crimes will be faster, while in rural areas it will obviously be slower and instead of the classic cops: sheriffs, security guards and park rengers will give us a hard time.


Here is an intuitive diagram of what actually happens at each level of suspicion:


First Star: Police shoot when threatened by a weapon or vehicle. In the night the police helicopter will keep us under control with the light. The response to the call of the crime will be slow, and just exit the investigation field represented in the mini-map when it flashes red and blue, for a short period of time, in order to cancel the suspicion.

Second Star: A lonely or struggling cop calls for support. The police shoot regardless of whether we are armed or not. There will be roadblocks from time to time during the escape. The police drive fast and aggressively to make us accumulate damage to the vehicle.


Third Star: Killing a policeman will directly activate the third level of suspicion. The police will prefer to kill us and the helicopter in addition to giving us a hard time to escape the field of view, will provide instructions to coordinate the men on the ground about our last recorded positions. The driving of the police will be much more aggressive, with the intent of hijacking us off-road rather than letting us enter roadblocks.


Fourth Star: FIB agents come into play. The police are better organized, heavily armed and equipped with sports vehicles and nails to puncture the wheels. The FIB will fire at us from the passenger position in the vehicles and in general, the men on the ground will coordinate with hand gestures. Helicopters in remote areas will provide support by disembarking select men.

Fifth Star: Multiple helicopters will make our life really difficult. The police, supported by a more aggressive FIB will try to disable our vehicle and always shoot, before us, in the wheels. The city will be full of NOOSE and other agents ready to block the roads so the possibility of dying is very high.

How to escape all this?

Escaping the investigation area is the first thing to do. While for the early levels of suspicion it is more comfortable and even smart to leave the vehicle to hide behind walls, for the higher levels it is necessary to have serious intentions to escape the police. While driving, police vehicles will almost always appear right in front of us and we will only have time to turn right or left (because there are policemen behind us) so keep this in mind: if in the city, it is convenient to turn often in the intersections to avoid police ahead of us.

Enter the garage Los Santos's Custom to have the car painted will make us immediately lose the level of suspicion, provided, however, that you have sowed the police so that you have not seen us enter. It is possible to escape even the highest levels of suspicion by car by reducing the number of policemen (by killing them) and then hiding after a rogue escape in tunnels or in the woods. The stars in the upper right will flash as soon as we have lost our tracks. We have estimated that at the fifth level of suspicion, you have to wait a minute for all sorts of crimes to be nullified.
