Some predictions on what might happen.
Calendar in hand i TOTY, will be published today, January 15th. The real novelty of this year that will overturn the Team of the Year announced back in October, it is the extravagant choice that the EA has made. That is to give the possibility to 50 selected people, including partners and influencers, to vote for their TOTY. In this way, the weight of the vote of the 50 chosen will be 60% on the final vote, while the EA will have only 40% of decision-making power to be able to change the choices of the community.
Unlike what happened with Christmas events, Black Friday etc. investing could be a double-edged sword. We explain why. With the release of TOTY, pro-players and many players have decided not to unpack the prizes guaranteed by the last Weekend League. For this reason, starting at 19 today and probably for 7 days, the vast majority of players will open packages almost compulsively to find at least one of the TOTYs. First of all, this will lead to a significant increase in the IF cards relating to the last TOTW, number 17, on the market and consequently the prices will be significantly reduced (about 15/20%). To give you a small example, Ciro Immobile last Thursday touched 200k, now its price is around 130k and after 19 today it should even almost halve.
Investing in IFs, advice:
In my opinion, investing in the players of this Team of the Week is not advisable if you aim to obtain a profit in a short time, precisely because of the great market fluctuation that the publication of TOTYs, with any SBCs (guaranteed if or updates leagues) to balance the drop in prices and so many promotions on the store's packs, it should involve. The advantage of the significant reduction in prices lies precisely in the fact of being able to find at cheaper prices not only the IFs of the TOTW indicated above but also of the past TOTWs. In the first case, the mechanism was explained a little while ago, so ask yourself a price range and try to take some IF, perhaps sniping it. In the second case, or investing in past TOTWs, the reason is simple. Since TOTW 14, due to the many events held between November and December, many players have not been able to sell several IFs. Therefore, they will tend to devalue them for immediate credit. So if you find any IF past at a price close to the scrap threshold or so, buy it. In this way, provided you have a large amount of credits to invest, in the coming weeks, or in my opinion even within a month, you will be able to obtain a good market profit.
Is it worth investing in NIF cards?
Usually before big events it is advisable to invest, a few days before, on cards with overall 82/83/84, but this time it is not a guarantee of gain, at least in the immediate future. The speech is always the same, many packages available and many players who will open them to have a better chance of finding a TOTY, especially if the EA releases the attack trio. This will lead to cards 82/83/84 to have a significant reduction compared to the previous days. So the best time to invest in cards with overall 82/83/84, perhaps even with a higher overall, is during the TOTY. A sort of investment for the future. Of course, invest in different players, don't stock more than 7/8 cards per player. Also take into account nationality, club and league. In this way, in the event that the EA were to release the Ones to Watch, with the relative winter (in February) and subsequently summer SBCs which will therefore guarantee an OTW as a prize or even the same SBC with guaranteed if during the TOTY period. , you will be able to obtain a truly remarkable market profit. The investment is advisable for those who have a large availability of credits and of course a lot of patience as it requires, except for challenges with guaranteed IF, a rather long period of time.
Update on the nif sale of 16/01:
I don't want to trash what was said in the previous paragraph, the written advice is still valid. There were some factors that led me to think. There are two possibilities today. 1- An SBC is issued with guaranteed IF, high probability, 2- there will be no challenge with guaranteed IF, low probability. In both cases it is still possible to invest. Let's consider the possible release of the SBC with guaranteed IF. In this case, the advice is to invest, by 19pm, on players with overall 83, spending between 1400 and 1700 credits and, if you have a greater amount of credits, on players with overall 84, spending between 3500 and 4000. credits. Especially with the 83, the gain could more than double. Unfortunately, the risk is still around the corner, if the EA inexplicably does not release SBC with guaranteed IF, the loss, if you follow the indicated price ranges, will be minimal. If the challenge were to be released instead as rumored, you would really hit the big time.
Let's analyze point 2 instead. If no guaranteed SBC challenge is released tonight, you could still invest on nif with overall 83 and earn immediately. I don't think there will be the hype seen yesterday evening (with over 8 million active transfers on the market for those who play on PS4), but maybe, after 19pm and especially around 20pm, when the most expensive packs will be released in the store, if you manage to buy some 83 to 800 players / 1000 credits, tomorrow you could sell them on the market for about 1700/1800 credits. It won't be much of a profit but it will always be better than nothing. Obviously, the same goes for the 84 too, although there is a minor tendency to sell them off even in such heated events as the release of the TOTYs.
NB What is written is the result of personal interpretations and past experience. The best way to do business is to always keep an eye on the market. If you see a large amount of players for sale, immediately sniper 83 players (84 if you have a greater amount of credits) at the lowest price you can find and try to sell them right away, perhaps differentiating the prices of the players you have by some k. .

There hasn't been a real crash in the market, the prices are a bit fluctuating. There have been small drops, of a few thousand credits, for example Ibrahimovic, it was easily at 27k, now it's back to 35K and in some cases, you see Dybala, its price has increased by 4 / 5k. What to do? Sniperate, because it is the only effective way to get the best players. De Bruyne and Kantè, for example, are able to get around 10 / 15k less than the Buy It Now market price. This is the best time to build a competitive team. Unfortunately, sniping largely depends on the speed of your connection and how quickly you hit the controller keys.
Team of the Year voted by the community
A few hours after the official TOTY, we have more than one certainty about which revelation players will be part of the team.
