In the first case, having another working remote available (but also using the Fire TV Stick Remote app or a device that integrates Alexa) you can follow a simple procedure starting from the key's main interface: just select with i directional keys the symbol ofGear located on the right side of the central menu and press on confirmation button to access the settings.
Once this is done, go to the function Bluetooth controllers and devices, then press option Amazon Fire TV remote controls and presses on the voice Add new remote: in this way the device will start listening, and all you have to do is press the key again Home per 10 seconds for the new remote to appear in the list. To conclude the association, therefore, just press on the new element in order to select it as default.
As regards the reset of a remote control that shows some malfunctions, on the other hand, the procedure varies according to the model of key you have, but to make the task easier, I have created dedicated chapters with the respective instructions.
Telecomando Basic Edition
The Fire TV Stick remote control basic edition can be restored starting from a simple one key combination: to begin, therefore, hold down the buttons simultaneously Home e Menu (☰), then release the first one and press for again 9 consecutive times the one with the symbol of three lines.
Following, remove the batteries from the rear compartment of the remote control, then unplug the key from the power outlet and wait about a minute. After this time, reinsert the batteries, then connect the stick to the power supply again and, as soon as the device's home screen appears, press and hold to 40 seconds the button Home, then wait for more 60 seconds to complete the setup.
Remote control with Alexa voice commands
If you have a version of Fire TV Stick with features of Alexa voice control, the instructions for resetting the relevant remote change slightly from those of the basic edition. Furthermore, there are some small differences also in relation to the type of device, but in all cases, however, it is necessary in advance disconnect the stick from the power supply.
Once this is done, if you have Fire Stick TV's 1st generation, without controls for switching off and modulating the volume, presses the keys at the same time Left (which is the left side of the center circle button) e Menu (☰) per 12 seconds. For all other models (2nd – 3rd generation, Soundbar e Lite – the latter also without off / volume controls), however, in addition you will also have to press the button Go back (the one with the arrow pointing to the left).
After releasing the above buttons wait 5 seconds, Then remove the batteries from the remote control and wait a minute before reinserting them: in the meantime reconnect the dongle to the power supply to restart it. Finally, press the button Home: in this phase the blue LED could flash for an instant (depending on the model available), and this should be enough to complete the association, but if you notice that the functions are not yet active, in this case try holding down for another 10 seconds the button Home.
If even after the procedure you continue to encounter problems, I suggest you contact Amazon support, while as regards the full reset of the Fire TV Stick I refer you to my dedicated guide.
How to program fire stick remote
If the remote control combined with your Amazon stick also has the comfortable ones TV control functions but you didn't configure it during the initialization procedure or you changed your TV model, don't worry, as this setting can also be changed later.
To understand how to program fire stick remote and make the buttons compatible ON / OFF e volume control with your TV, proceed as follows: to start, access the key's main interface and go to the device preferences by selecting the icon with the symbolGear.
Next, locate the function Device control and press on it, then, on the next screen, press on the item Manage devices. Once this is done, access the feature TV, select the option Switch TVs and repeat the choice you just made in the notification that will appear on the screen: consider that the configuration procedure will take a variable amount of time from 5 to 10 minutes.
The first operation that you will be asked to perform concerns the choice of the brand of your TV: if it is not included among the most common ones proposed at the beginning of the list, hold down the central round button to quickly scroll through the available options (there are really many!) and identify the correct one.
Then follow the instructions that appear on the screen: you just have to press the classic button ON / OFF placed at the top of the remote control to turn off the TV and perform the same operation again 10 seconds later to turn it on again.
At each attempt you will be asked to indicate whether this was successful or not: if the answer is negative, a new test will be performed with different IR frequencies, and so on until the correct one is identified. As soon as you succeed you will be asked to test the buttons for lower e raise up il volume: therefore, once this test has also been performed, you will have to answer the related question. If everything goes smoothly as it should, the procedure ends here, otherwise the detection will have to be performed from scratch.
The configuration possibilities offered by the remote control of your Fire TV do not end here: in fact, by accessing the previous screen again from the path Device Control > Manage Devices > TV and selecting the voice Infrared options you will be able to search or update the Infrared profileThis procedure is useful if the television's response to remote control impulses is not particularly effective.
In addition, you can also adjust the settings here Timing, increasing or decreasing the range of response to infrared signals, e repetition, i.e. specifying the frequency of sending the signal from the remote control to the TV, which can be set 1 to 3 times.
In the same way, therefore, it is possible to manage the On/Off controls (always present within the function TV) by adjusting both the Ignition delay and the number of repetitions of the commands in question. Since these are particular settings, the advice I want to give you is to try to keep the default values: the fact remains that you can still test different preferences and then eventually restore the original ones in case of problems.
If you have a remote control that integrates voice commands and an associated Alexa device, you can also manage thevolume increase (using the homonymous function) which is operated on the TV by the voice assistant at each of your specific requests to adjust the intensity (for example with the voice commands turn up the volume/turn down the volume).
Finally, I would also like to point out the function Entrance change, which allows you to replicate the navigation mode of source selection menu even on the stick. For example, if you use the up or down scroll keys on your TV's original remote control to access a different input, I recommend setting the mode to Navigate Up + Down: in this way, pronouncing a suitable voice command (such as, precisely, "change input") following the pressure of the Alexa button, the system will follow the same motion.
