Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse

Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse

Only seven orbs, but tons of trophies!

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is the brand new Namco Bandai title of our spiky-haired darlings. Leaving behind a well-established tradition of hard and raw fighting, the game looks like an experiment, with a nod to the role-playing component: therefore, get ready for a very lasting experience, to level up, assign skill points every time possible, and hours and hours of grinding to find just that object or move you need. You don't need to be a fighting game veteran: even newbies with a little patience and enough time will be able to take home their platinum. For the whole, only one game run in which to face the story is sufficient, but many repetitions of the secondary missions: so if replaying the same mission ten times you get bored, forget it at the start, because it could be much more than ten. With about 80 hours (and a good dose of luck) you will be able to conquer all 50 trophies in the game, including 36 bronzes, 11 silvers, 2 golds and a platinum (two of these trophies are secret).

What kind of game is it? Review link: HERE

Where do I start?

Start by reassuring yourself for at least one reason: the game does not have any missing trophies. If you don't do something at a certain time, you can replay the mission and do it at the next. First of all, there will be a story to complete: enjoy it, it's also enjoyable. As you go through the storyline, try to level up by tackling side missions (they are parallel missions, you can access them from the reception in the area to the right of the game map). Leveling up is very important: the stronger you are, the easier it will be to face the challenges of the game. If you don't level up, the enemies will kill you in no time and it will become frustrating, so avoid it. Third: there are trophies to be obtained online. They are not difficult, but organizing them with a friend also makes them faster than normal. Also keep in mind that it is recommended to always have a master assigned, because there are many in the game, and to get all the trophies you must have completed the training with each master. They are scattered throughout the game area, you will have to talk to them and they will accept you as pupils. To complete the training simply do what they tell you and play many side missions bringing with you as an ally the specific master you have at that moment, selecting him from the available characters: this will speed things up. Even if they tell you to use the move they assigned you, it is not decisive (it is only when they openly challenge you by telling you to use it as a finishing move). At the very least equip it in skills and leave it there. Finally, you will need to find all the moves and skills of the game: so you will have to, in addition to maximizing all the masters, replay many secondary missions, because with certain requirements and defeating certain opponents you could unlock them. I use the conditional because the game's reward system is 75% random, so the more you play the more chances you have to get certain items. From time to time in the trophy list I will try to indicate useful strategems to speed up, where possible, every effort.

  1. Complete the game's story mode. In the meantime, play as many side missions as possible. You will level up and make everything easier.
  2. Complete side / side missions at least once. Pay attention to the masters, and in the meantime complete as many trainings as possible.
  3. Dedicate yourself to online trophies
  4. Complete the research of all the moves / skills of the game and the training with all the masters. That is: you still play many side missions

Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse  A well kept secret!

Got your first Dragon Ball!

As per the description, you will need to find your first Dragon Ball. They are randomly released by the time protectors, characters who appear just as randomly in certain levels. Refer to the trophy Supreme miracle for our suggestions.

Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse  Hope for the planet

Obtained the two-star Dragon Ball!

As per the description, you will have to find the dragon ball with the two stars for the first time. They are randomly released by the time protectors, characters who appear just as randomly in certain levels. Refer to the trophy Supreme miracle for our suggestions.

  Memoirs of the grandfather

Obtained the four-star Dragon Ball!

As per the description, you will have to find the Dragon Ball with the four stars for the first time. They are randomly released by the time protectors, characters who appear just as randomly in certain levels. Refer to the trophy Supreme miracle for our suggestions.

  The supreme miracle

Obtained the 7 Dragon Balls and summoned Shenron!

Once you have found all seven spheres, you can go to the altar in the northern area of the game map (where you also access the base of Trunks) and summon Shenron. The dragon will grant only one wish from the list on the screen. To platinum the game you will need to ask for the following wishes:

  1. Ask for twice a supreme move. The first time he will give you the Shocking Death Ball, the second time the Minus Energy Power Ball.
  2. Ask for twice a special move. He will give you a set that contains three each time. The first set will contain: Flash Bomber, Drain Field, Thunder Eraser. The second set will contain: Dragon Flash Bullet, Whirlwind Blade, Lullaby Punch.
  3. Ask for three times a new playable character. The first time he will give you Gogeta SSJ4, the second time Super C-17, the third Li Schenron (also known as Omega Schenron, the evil white dragon).

These (seven wishes in total) are essential to platinum the game, because the characters and moves are not obtainable in any other way. Obviously for each request you will have to find the seven spheres all over again, so it is highly not recommended to waste wishes for secondary requests. Here are the other requests that you can still ask the dragon if you have time to waste (or if your character is too weak and you need to reassign skill points):

  1. Money: will give you 500.000 zeni. Useless: With the latest side missions it takes you ten minutes to make a lot of money. It does not pay for the time spent finding the orbs.
  2. A rare item: gives you an accessory. In my opinion you can live without it quietly.
  3. A new dress: will give you a complete set of Saiyuki costume.
  4. Get stronger: Gives you useful battle items. But they are not essential, and if you want you can also find them in the missions, or you can buy them in the shop.
  5. To grow up: makes you go up one level. It's not worth it - just replay the side missions several times. Especially the last ones give a lot of experience points.
  6. A second chance: allows you to reassign all skill points (the ones you earn at each level up). Useful if you have badly distributed them.
  7. Change the physical appearance: it does just that, it allows you to re-enter the creation of the character's appearance.

Dragon Balls can be found in side parallel missions. The only way to get them is to defeat a time patrol, which appears randomly in certain missions, and always randomly could release a Dragon Ball when defeated. You will notice it right away because once you are defeated a message "you have obtained key item" will appear. If the message "you got material" appears twice (or only once), rest assured that it will not be a dragon ball. So if you want, if the right message does not appear, simply restart the mission until a patrolman to defeat appears again, and keep going until the message "you got key item" pops up. The Dragon Balls are not impossible to group, however, but the chance of finding one decreases as you have more and more: so the first will be easy to have, the last the most difficult (regardless of their stars, which are not make no difference). The positive note is that if you already own a sphere with tot stars, until you find all the others and make a wish, the same sphere will no longer appear (you cannot have double spheres). There are several parallel missions in which you can find a time patrol (they do not appear in all): the 2, 12, 15, 19, 22 and so on. We highly recommend the number 2 (“Prepare for the arrival of the Saiyans”). Here a time patrol will appear practically at the beginning, after defeating Krillin, Tensinhan and Yamcha. Being one of the first missions, the enemies are very weak, and the mission itself is short anyway. If after beating them the patrolman does not appear in front of the building, restart and try again. In number 19 the patrolman may appear right at the beginning before choosing a portal, but then you will have to go through the whole mission which is longer than number 2.

You will not find the Dragon Balls on the ground as simple objects in the various levels, and those to be recovered and brought to the ship in specific parallel missions (in which you put the ball under your arm and bring it back to the base) will not count as Dragon Balls.

  We are strong!

Collected all characters and variants!

You will have to unlock all the characters and all their variants of the game. The trophy does not count the characters that can be purchased from the Store or future DLCs. You will acquire almost all the characters and their variants in the main missions of the game's storyline and playing at least once every single side mission (including the Broly saga). The three remaining characters are obtained with Dragon Balls, and they are Gogeta SSJ4, Super C-17 and Omega Shenron.

  Unknown world

You fought in all levels!

You will have to fight at least once in each level of the game. There are 21, you will unlock them by continuing in the story mode and playing all the parallel missions.

  For the future

You have played an online Battle for the first time!

As per description. Find the reception for online battles on the right map of TokiToki City. It doesn't matter if you win or lose. Any mode is good: 1 vs 1, 3 vs 3, endless battle. See the trophy Do you wanna Dance? below (and also Impossible desire, even further down the list).

  Do you wanna Dance?

You have played 7 Online Battles!

As per description. Find the reception for online battles on the right map of TokiToki City. It doesn't matter if you win or lose. Any mode is good: 1 vs 1, 3 vs 3, endless battle. See also the trophy Impossible desire, more down.

  Love, courage and pride

You have won 7 Online Battles!

As per description. Find the reception for online battles on the right map of TokiToki City. Any mode is good: 1 vs 1, 3 vs 3, endless battle. You can also get help from a friend: he stands still for seven games, and you beat him and win. I recommend that you do this by winning seven games in infinite match mode, so while you think about the trophy Impossible desire (see below). This way you get two trophies at once.

  Exciting meeting

You have added a patrol boat to your Favorites!

Patrolmen are other people who play online. If you play on offline servers, you will always see them stationary throughout the game area, if you play online they will move (precisely because you are playing online at the same time with other people). To add one to your favorites, approach the character, press "triangle" for his information and then from that menu again "triangle".

  Heart a thousand

You sent a gift!

You can do this from the special reception to send / receive gifts (it is located in front of the entrance to the Trunks area, a few steps from the altar of the dragon balls). From there you can send a gift to any player you have already played with, or to a friend of yours. Select the item to give, and send it. You must be connected to the server.

  Thank you very much!

You have received a gift!

You can pick up a gift from the reception to send / receive gifts (located opposite the entrance to the Trunks area, a stone's throw from the altar of the dragon balls). Obviously, a person you played with or a friend of yours must have sent you a gift. You can wait for someone to do it on their own or ask a friend. You must be connected to the server.

  Memories dormant over time

You have completed all parallel missions!

The parallel missions are accessed from the dedicated reception in the area east of Toki Toki city. You can play both online and offline. There are 55 parallel missions in all. Some are not accessible immediately from the reception but must be unlocked by talking to certain characters (belonging to the world of Dragon Ball) who will appear in various areas of Toki Toki city as you continue in the main story. They are not difficult to find, they will always stay in place until you have completed the mission at least once, and they will have a big question mark on their heads.

Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse  Supreme hunger!

Obtained all Supreme Attacks!

Ultimate attacks are more powerful than special attacks and require more aura to perform. See the trophy Supreme power (below) to find out where to find all the special attacks in the game.

Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse  Supreme power!

Obtained all Special Attacks!

And here comes the longest, most frustrating, and most boring part of the game (past which you'll have platinum at your fingertips). You will have to get all the attacks in the game: all, both supreme and special. Keep in mind that practically all the moves of all characters in the game can be learned by your character and inserted into his or her move slot. You will find them by completing the parallel missions, replaying them over and over again, with a lot of luck (I had to play 600 parallel missions, which in the game are "only" 55, so realize what you are going to face). In the side missions it is almost all random: no one will be able to tell you for sure how many chances you have to unlock the move in the single play or not. But there are some tips:

  1. Usually to unlock a certain move in a level, you will have to defeat the character who owns that move in that level. Example: the move “kamehameha majin” is owned by Majin Buu. If in a level there are many enemies, and among these Majin Buu, then the possibility that you will get it by defeating Majin Buu is very high. So if once you defeat him the message "you have received skills" does not appear, restart the mission immediately. This reasoning applies almost exclusively to special attacks and not to supreme ones. How do you know that Majin Buu owns that move? From the character selection menu, press the "square" button and scroll through the characters: now you will know all the moves that each one has (and by changing its "shape", the moves also change: be careful, this is also visible from the characters view, press “R1” while the character is selected).
  2. Supreme attacks are usually unlocked by completing the entire level, and unlike special attacks, you will know if you only get the skill at the end, not always with an instant message like "you have received a skill". So you will have to get the results of the game to find out, and in case replay it. Chances increase if you complete the level with any supreme attack. The high level rating does not always guarantee skill: I have taken level Z in many missions (higher than A and S) without unlocking anything, and missions completed with B have instead rewarded me
  3. Keep in mind that you can know before playing each mission which moves there are to unlock in that mission, by checking the right panel before selecting it: the moves you have not yet obtained are illuminated, not the ones you have already taken are illuminated. If a move is at the end of the whole list, and there are other moves before it, then at 80% it is a supreme attack. If a move is at the end of the list and there are no other moves before it, then it could be both a supreme and a special attack. How do you remove the doubt? Going to the character selection, and seeing which character has it: if you have to press both R2 and L2 plus a key to execute it, then it's a supreme move.
  4. As you will have understood, 98% is all luck: replay, replay, replay.
  5. I recommend playing online missions of rank 5 or higher, because the level of the enemies and their number could slow you down or put you in difficulty. Playing online or not does not affect obtaining moves (unless you meet certain requirements to continue in the mission. Example: If you have to eliminate Piccolo's Gohan first to get Freeza to arrive, the online companions may still eliminate Piccolo first, and block obtaining. In that case, either you agree, or play online, or hope they eliminate the character you need first).

Not all special / supreme moves are obtained in secondary missions: some are unlocked after training with the masters (see the trophy Give me five! , others via the dragon of the seven spheres, see the trophy The supreme miracle). I leave you a video with all the moves of all the missions, including the conditions necessary to continue the mission until the final completion.

There is always something to learn!

You have completed 7 auto patrols!

This trophy was difficult to get at the beginning, now it's really easy, because the servers have been updated properly. It seems strange, but you don't have to do practically anything to get it: if you play online you will have it without even realizing it, if you play offline you will have to enter the online square every now and then (the one with all the players moving). Occasionally some other person may encounter your AI-controlled character in his game - when that happens seven times, you will get the trophy. You notice if someone has met you when you enter the game: the first thing that happens is the appearance of the appropriate window.

  Voyeur

You have observed 7 battles!

When you play online in "infinite game" mode, if it is not your turn to play automatically you will be spectators at other players' matches. After watching the game seven times, you will unlock the trophy.

  Zeni-ale

You have earned 500.000 Zeni!

The zeni are the currency of the game, useful for buying items, moves and accessories. You earn them by completing the main story, side missions and online encounters. At first 500.000 zeni may seem like a huge amount, but the latest parallel quests of higher rank yield truly unthinkable rewards. At the end of the platinum I had ten million zeni, so ignore the desire of the seven spheres that gives you money.

Trophy Guide: Dragon Ball Xenoverse  Endless struggle

You have played 7 times in infinite match mode!

As per description. Find the reception for online battles on the right map of TokiToki City. It doesn't matter if you win or lose. I recommend that you do it, though, by winning seven games, so while you think about the trophy Impossible desire (see below). This way you get two trophies at once.

  Impossible desire

You have won 7 times in Endless Patrol mode!

As per description. Find the reception for online battles on the right map of TokiToki City. You can also get help from a friend: he stands still for seven games, and you beat him and win. I recommend that you do this as the first online trophy among those asking to play / win certain games. Once this is completed, in fact, you will also automatically unlock: For the future, Do you wanna Dance?, Love, courage and pride, Endless struggle.

  It's not over yet!

Revived a KO'd ally 7 times while playing online!

As per description: while playing online with someone, you will have the opportunity to revive them if their health drops to zero when they are defeated by an opponent. Hook up your player (R1) and get close to him, staying inside the light green circle. Wait a few seconds, and he will have recovered: if in the meantime they attack you, you can parry the opposing blows while you revive him, gaining precious seconds (L1 + R1). You don't have to revive the same person in the same game seven times, the trophy can be combined in multiple games. It is not clear if it is unlocked by playing with other people against artificial intelligence (ie in parallel missions): the method to go without fail is to play 3 vs 3 online, and revive a partner as soon as he is defeated. I did it this way to catch him: in 3 vs 3 games, as soon as the clash began, I started flying in circles like crazy throughout the area. In this way the enemies got tired of chasing me and dedicated themselves to my companions. As soon as one of them was defeated, I would run to him and revive him. Obviously if your companions are too strong compared to the enemies, you will have to wait for a more or less balanced game on both sides. However, you can get along with more people, play together and significantly shorten the time, although in the long run (if you play online) it is a trophy that comes by itself.

  Give me five!

You have reached the maximum friendship level with all masters!

Continuing in the main story, Toki Toki City will appear certain characters from the Dragon Ball universe who will offer to train you and become your masters. Approach the character (who will have a Japanese kanji next to his name on the left to indicate that he is a teacher, as well as a fairly obvious question mark) and talk to him to make him your teacher. By doing this, you will eventually stop training with the current teacher, if you already have one (your progress will still be saved with the old teacher). Before accepting you as a student, the character will challenge you in battle: you will have to defeat him. Nothing difficult anyway. Each teacher during training will teach you four moves (three special attacks and one supreme at the end of the training). To complete the training and maximize your friendship with the teacher (in order to get the trophy) you will have to do everything your teacher asks you: use that particular move he taught you in battle, beat him, reduce his energy at a certain level, finding a certain object and bringing it to him, and so on. Their instructions are still very clear, just read what they tell you. Some advices:

  1. To speed up the friendship with a master, play many parallel missions and take him with you as an ally from the character selection menu
  2. If a master asks you for a certain item, you can compare it to the shop, unless it is a Z-soul: in that case find the parallel mission that provides it as an occasional reward, and play it until you get it. You will have to do it, for example, with Vegeta
  3. Although the masters ask you to use the moves they have taught you on your own, it seems that it is not essential to help the friendship level. Just look at point 1 of this list
  4. Once you have the master's ultimate move, if you don't pick a new master, the Z symbol will occasionally appear when you use it in battle and the attack will do a lot more damage. You will also notice this because the transparent image of your teacher who performs it with you will appear next to you

Masters are spawned completely randomly every time you start playing or return to TokiToki City from a mission. Some are much harder to find than others, especially Bills, the God of Destruction, on whom I will spend a few more words. To quickly regenerate all the masters and check if what you need has appeared, there are some tricks: the fastest is to go to the Tenkaichi tournament square (north area of the map), choose 1 vs 1 locally (character on the left ) and as soon as the character selection menu appears, go back to the square (“circle” button). The characters will be regenerated and you can go around the map to see if what you are looking for has appeared. Or go to the reception for the parallel missions and do exactly the same process, but it seems to take longer than the first. I leave you the list of all the masters available, even if there is a bronze trophy related to each of them in the guide. Remember that from "game data" in the options you can check the status of your masters and the level of friendship reached with each of them.

I leave you a video to show you how to quickly regenerate the masters in Toki Toki City.
