Reportedly, Sony Studios would be working on a remake of The Last of Us. Sony Bend instead he starts working on a new game after trying unsuccessfully to make it Days Gone 2.
In a Bloomberg report on dissatisfaction among lesser-known studies of Sony, we read that Michael Mumbauer, the founder of Visual Arts Service Group (a developer Sony who collaborates in the development of the games of PlayStation Studios) would be working on a remake of The Last of Us with codename T1X.
It appears that Mumbauer has formed a development team of 30 people. Initially, the developer proposed the idea of a remake of the first Uncharted and then veered towards a remake of The Last of Us of 2013. However, the team reportedly ran into problems after that Sony kept the project a secret by refusing to offer an extra budget. The leader of the PlayStation Studios, Herman Hulst, would have found the project too expensive and Mumbauer's team would have been moved into the development of The Last of Us 2.
Bloomberg states that after the release of The Last of Us 2, Sony brought some core team developers into the project T1X and the remake actually became a project N. Mumbauer and other developers have left the company, but it appears that ramake is still in development.
In the same article, we read that Sony Bend would have proposed a sequel to Days Gone after the game's release in 2019, but was turned down. Sony has therefore moved the developers of Bend on two projects N: a multiplayer game (presumably a multiplayer of TLOU) and a new one Uncharted.
Reportedly, due to limitations on their autonomy and leadership, some members of Sony Bend Studio they left the project of Uncharted. It appears that the studio is now working on a new original game. It is unclear whether this is Days Gone 2, a new IP or another remake.
Some rumors affirm the existence of a new team Sony in San Diego, led by Mumbauer. After speculating on the development of an existing franchise, many have thought of a new one Uncharted. However, it appears that the developer was referring to The Last of Us, with the future of Uncharted still under the control of Naughty Dog.
With the release of the series HBO set during the events of the first chapter, the time for a remake seems perfect. However, it is once again a title that is returned to the shelves a few years after its release, on a new console. TLOU, with the version PS5, it would arrive in fact to the third generation of consoles later Playstation 3 e 4.
Given the huge sales of the previous versions, one wonders how many have not yet played the masterpiece of N and may want to buy it on PS5.
Looking forward to further news on the remake of The Last of Us, let us know your opinion in the comments. Does it really make sense to remaster a game for two generations?
