Tips and tricks for novices and experts.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition (HERE our review) is definitely an opportunity not to be missed for players who missed the appointment with the Bethesda title in 2011 and who now have the opportunity to explore the world of Skyrim on the current console generation. Veteran players will surely have already cut their teeth to the sound of dragons to be killed, warlike factions and dangerous enemies in the mountains, but we have decided to make this guide especially for the most inexperienced, for those who look out for the first time in a universe as fascinating as it is dangerous. Keeping this premise in mind, here are a series of suggestions of various kinds and little secrets that will be convenient for you during the trip.
Bailouts are key
Before anything else, remember to manually (and often) save your game data. Of course these are almost always strategic rescues: are you about to enter an unknown cave? Waging a tough battle? Or do you just have to rob someone without getting caught? Well: save before continuing. There's no shame in reloading a save if something goes wrong, and it can often happen that things don't go well not because of you but because of some game bug.
Vampirism comes in handy
Becoming a vampire in Skyrim has its pros and cons. First of all, keep in mind that all the other characters will hate you, so walking around the villages during the day is not a good idea. However the skills you will be able to unlock are extremely interesting and will allow you to potentially build one of the strongest characters in the game. But first of all, you have to become a vampire. How to do it? You can be affected by Bleeding Vampiris disease if a vampire hurts you or by exposure to vampiric weapons. However, if you are already werewolves, you will prove immune to these exposures, whatever their origin. You will also be immune to wearing the Hircines's Ring. The Sanguinare Vampiris disease can be cured during the incubation period with a special potion, but if you do not do it within 72 hours of play your morph will be complete.
Being a vampire brings a number of benefits, including immunity to disease and poison, improved cold resistance, and an additional 25% stealth bonus. Not only that: by becoming vampires, the game will officially recognize you as undead, so you can learn the Necromage skill in the appropriate skill tree. This will increase the power of all spells and effects against the undead.
Two weapons are better than one
If you have a free hand, use it to hold a weapon. It is the motto of every warrior who fights using both upper limbs, because leaving them inert is a real shame, isn't it? Warriors who use two weapons at the same time cannot block enemy offensives, so they play all out on offensive and offensive power. This involves a high consumption of stamina, so a good tip is to keep in mind the characteristics of your race and various bonuses from secondary skills.
Another useful tip: The speed of your attacks is based on the base speed of the weapon held in your left hand. So, equip a dagger on the left, since they are the fastest weapons in the game. As a result, the overall balance of both weapons will gain, since the one in the right hand is affected by the speed of the left.
Learn to cook
Let's face it, the ability to cook over campfires is a feature of many RPGs but few insist on making decisions about such gameplay mechanics. Cooking in Skyrim is a great and valid alternative to buying potions, and also cheap if you are looking for ingredients around the game world. The only thing you will need constantly is a fire to boil the ingredients. There are many interesting recipes, but we advise you to keep an eye on these in particular, by virtue of their effects: Vegetable Soup, Beef Stew, Venison Stew, Elsweyr Fondue.
The companions do not follow you to beat the slack
Tired of doing it all by yourself? Your companions aren't with you just to have some company along the way - they have a multitude of uses, and by taking advantage of various glitches in the game you could even build a small army. In basic tasks, however, you could simply send them to work in the mine looking for minerals, or to cut wood. For many of them it is not even necessary to equip them with special equipment, as they will procure it themselves. If you encounter chests that are apparently impossible to open due to the lock, have your partner try before you give up, he may be able to crack it easily. Again, they are very useful in dividing the weight of inventory items with the main character.
