Nintendo has announced an upcoming partnership with Niantic to develop a new game of Pikmin AR. The game should come out in the second half of the 2021, but the exact launch dates are unclear. Niantic has created one official game page, to which you can subscribe to pre-register and receive updates.
Il Japanese official press release reports that the new game Pikmin AR will be the “first step” of the partnership of Nintendo us Niantic. The rest will focus on "using Nintendo characters to make walking more fun."
Niantic he also issued a statement on their official website to announce the partnership. The statement states that: "the game will include gameplay activities aimed at encouraging walking and making it even more enjoyable", just like in Pokémon GO. This is the first app developed by Niantic's studio in Tokyo, whose foundation dates back to 2018.
This will be just one of Niantic's many Augmented Reality mobile games. The sequence saw its debut in 2012, with Ingress. Then, games connected with other major IPs followed, such as Pokémon GO. Another, upcoming project, is instead dedicated to Catan board game.
