The award-winning Monster Hunter series reaches a new level today with the global release of Monster hunter rise on Nintendo Switch. The latest installment of the action RPG franchise transports players to the colorful village of Kamura, where they must defend themselves against the Fury, a rapidly approaching calamity.
Hunters can tackle these challenges alone, or with up to three other players both locally and in cooperative online play, while taking advantage of the versatility of the Nintendo Switch system, which allows hunting anytime, anywhere, with anyone!
To overcome the looming Fury, in action-packed combat, Kamura's hunters must employ new Palamute hunting companions and the "Thread Bug" grappling mechanic. The Palamute “Canyne” companions join the Palico “Felyne” in assisting the players during a hunt. In addition to putting their considerable offensive capabilities at their disposal in any combat, the Palamute can also carry hunters on their backs to quickly chase any fleeing monsters and traverse open maps.
Thread Bugs also allow hunters to cling nimbly in any direction during a hunt and can be paired with each of the 14 weapon types to create unique Silkweave Attacks. Damaging monsters with these new attacks will make them susceptible to the new “Wyvern mount” technique, which allows players to temporarily take control of a monster and generate spectacular battle sequences during a hunt.
When players are not exploring the five hunting grounds, such as the Sacred Ruins, the Flooded Forest, and the Sandy Plains, they can also battle hordes of huge monsters in the new Fury mission type introduced in Monster hunter rise. In these missions, hunters must team up with the citizens of Kamura Village to prepare their defensive installations and protect the Stronghold's barricades from waves of invading monsters, including any Apex monsters that might arrive during the siege. In addition to the new game mode, Monster hunter rise It also introduces new “Trading Skills” for each weapon as hunters progress through the game. By trading these new abilities for Silkweave or regular attacks, players can create all new combos and strategies to define their preferred play style.
Monster hunter rise it will also include new features to improve multiplayer hunts. Dynamic difficulty scaling for multiplayer automatically adjusts as new players enter and exit a mission. The new “Hunting Connection” feature This feature allows you to set optional tags to pair with other players. After completing a multiplayer mission, players will also be able to "Like" other players in their party and increase the likelihood of finding themselves in matchmaking.
As with the previous chapters of the series, Monster hunter rise will include robust free post-launch support. The title's first update has already been announced for late April and will include a host of new monsters including the return of the Chameleos, a quirky Elder Elder Dragon who likes to cause mischief before disappearing without a trace. In addition to the Standard Edition (physical and digital) of Monster hunter rise, a special digital Deluxe Edition will include the standard edition of the game, as well as a digital DLC pack voucher that can be redeemed for bonus in-game content such as full “Kamurai” armor sets, exclusive gestures, face paints and more.
