ECS announced today, the newcomers of his family VAT Q, the tiny footprint, energy efficient PCs - LIVA Q1A / Q1A Plus.
Unlike the current generation, of which you can find our review here, which is based on Intel Apollo Lake architecture and therefore intended for the consumer market, VAT Q1A è equipped with a quad core SoC manufactured by Rockchip and su Q1A Plus there are two processors, a quad and a dual core always based on SoC Rockchip.
Specifically, LIVA Q1A is powered by Rockchip RK3288 a quad-core Cortex A17 that reaches 1,6GHz clock frequency, while LIVA Q1A Plus integrates two types of Rockchip RK3399. One is the dual-core Cortex-A72, which reaches 1,8GHz and the other is the quad-core Cortex-A53. The CPU will work leveraging the A53 when applications do not require high computational power, and thus maintaining low power consumption. If your application needs more computing power, the A72 CPU will boost performance by 50%.
SoCs with ARM architecture from Chinese Rockchip in this way save 15% of energy consumption but increase performance by 50%.
Thanks to its low power consumption and aluminum CPU heatsink, the LIVA Q1A series does not need a fan and this makes it extremely quiet and perfect for multimedia applications, where you try to minimize noise, but also digital signage applications such as shopping malls, smart classrooms, transport, hotels and health centers.
The LIVA Q1A series supports 4K resolution, HDMI CEC, and is based on Android 8.1 system with open SDK, which then allows companies to customize their interface. Below is the table with the characteristics of the two devices, for more information we refer you to the ECS manufacturer's website
