More information in the official press release:

Fifteen years ago, Irrational Games started making PC games, since then the PC gaming experience has always been dear and close to our hearts. A long time has passed since we released the original BioShock, PC gamers will now have a lot of expectations regarding their new purchase. So it is understandable that you are wondering: Will the BioShock Infinite live up to expectations? Read on to find out what awaits you in the PC version, judge for yourself.

Controls

One of the biggest differences between PC and console is the presence of a mouse and keyboard. You all expect this, so we're happy to announce that PC screen options allow you to remap all default settings. Speaking of mice, we have made sure not to alter the sensitivity of high-end mice by applying artificial modifications, you will also be able to control the sensitivity and speed of the mouse via the options.

What are you muttering to yourself? Do you prefer a console controller? Don't worry, traitor, your secret is safe with us. There are three different controller layouts (Default, Marksman and Retro), each of which supports an incredible number of options. You can change sensitivity, vibration and reverse the axes. Are you left handed? Go ahead and reveal your genetic superiority as all controller layouts support multiple analog configurations: Default (look right stick, move left), Southpaw (opposite of Default), Legacy (for GoldenEye fans) and Legacy Southpaw. For those looking for an old-school solution, or using special controllers for medical reasons, we also allow you to swap the two analog sticks with the D-pad.

The game interface is controllable via mouse, keyboard or controller and you can also change options even without having to pause the game.

Graphics

I know I know. Why talk about Controls first when the first thing we all go to is the Graphics Options? Because patience is a virtue and worth the wait.

This time we embraced the widescreen gaming thesis. With our implementation of the “horizontal plus”, the farther you move, the more you will be able to discover the wonderful view of Columbia. For aficionados, we support the multi-monitor option with AMD Eyefinity, NVIDIA Surround and Matrox TripleHead2Go. You will also have separate controls for resolution and display options (full screen, window and full screen window).

We have 6 preset graphics modes, from “Really Low” to “Ultra,” ensuring a wide range of quality. Gamers who want to tweak the options to the fullest can switch to a custom configuration, which allows them to control the anti-aliasing filter, texture details, texture filters, dynamic shadows, post-processing, light effects, ambient occlusions and details of the objects. Many of these options have an adjustment layer available only under DX11.

Right, BioShock Infinite is a DX11 game. Even if you only need DX10 compatible hardware to play games, a DX11 graphics card will give you better performance. Each of these options has been developed in close collaboration with AMD expert graphics to ensure the best result.

Play anytime, anywhere

So you have a great system for playing at home, but what happens when you are on the road, on the street or with relatives? We know that you would like to take your game with you at all times but sometimes it is not possible. For this we have worked hard, including graphics options that allow you to play even on less powerful machines.

Speaking of bringing the game with you, did I mention that the game is also available on Steam, with Steam Cloud support? You can always take BioShock Infinite with you, your rescues will always travel with you!

If, on the other hand, you prefer to play with your 80-inch TV comfortably on the sofa, we will help you thanks to the Steam Big Picture support mode. With a wireless controller and good insurance coverage you can also play from your Jacuzzi.

Conclusions

If I have any regrets, they are due to the fact that we wanted to implement a lot more things but didn't have time to do it. For example, some of the most requested PC options these days are in-game V-Sync and FOV control system. Unfortunately, given our limited time… .no wait, don't despair. We added these too!

We are incredibly excited about the quality achieved by BioShock Infinite on PC, we can't wait for you to test it for yourself on March 26th. Secure your copy at www.preordernow.com!
