Imperium Civitas II: After the great success of the excellent Imperivm Civitas, comes the sequel to this fantastic game!
Imperium Civitas
Rome built the greatest empire of all time, everyone knows that. Imperivm Civitas II invites you to assume the guise of a Roman Emperor and to govern the fate of its cities to make them the most prosperous there are.
After the myriad of sleepless nights to build houses, temples, barracks, on imperivm citas, the highly anticipated sequel finally arrives. The first chapter was excellent. He could keep you attached to that screen for hours and hours without you noticing that time was flying by. Even if the graphics were not very detailed. The Heimont "repairs" are noteworthy, the game developers have in fact repaired some of the many programming gaps that the first Imperivm Civitas carried with it, including the very ugly management of random events.
Now we will no longer have to solve fires, riots or other frequently, but everything will be managed less "frantically"; all events will happen for some more “logical” reasons, in fact, the construction of a building will always involve an event.
The Gameplay
After a short but useful tutorial, we will be able to immerse ourselves in the actual game and decide to administer only one city; the cities available range from Alexandria to Pompeii, divided by difficulty from easy to difficult. Or we can opt for the historical campaign which consists in administering a city from a certain date. For example, if we choose Rome in the year 733 BC we will have to start from the foundations, while if we start from 509 BC we will already have some technological discoveries, more buildings to be built.
If you love the capital you can try your hand in the Rome mode, that is a "free" game, with no primary objectives to complete, but it is obvious that you will have to continue to satisfy your inhabitants as long as you are the head of the government.
Technical Section and Final Considerations
The graphics are soft, the lighting effects are great and the character's features are well defined. The surfaces are very detailed. The graphics have become slightly "cleaner" than in the previous episode, however great for a strategic game like Imperivm Civitas. The sound is also good, excellent effects and sufficiently catchy music, as a historical management software must be, and then, a touch of class, the audio (and the text) are completely in Spanish. The gameplay is great, because its isometric view makes managing your city even easier. But also because, as happens in many other management software, you will not have to go to sidebars to create a building, but a simple click with the right mouse button will be enough to create your architectural work.
Moreover, thanks to the subdivision of the cities by difficulty, it will be easier to play even for the less experienced. Longevity is good as the city can be managed (almost) indefinitely, until it falls. The game is also available for the "new" Windows Vista, 1GB of Ram will be enough to make it run well. It only takes up 1GB of disk space and you really need to compliment the FX staff as the installation will be surprisingly fast.
Judgement:
GRAPHICS: 90
Pro: Excellent for a management software
SOUND: 87
Pros: All in all good, nice effects, discreet music.
PLAYABILITY: 85
Pros: You will be able to see the mood of citizens, Isometric view, Automatic messages managed much better
LONGEVITY: 76
Pros: Not very long, especially with an easy mode.
GLOBAL: 85
Excellent of its kind, but not recommended for those who already have the first chapter due to the few innovations. Recommended for those who have never tried one even for its budget price.
