We had the opportunity to thoroughly test the new Xbox One graphical interface, obviously noting, like most of the press, a bit of confusion during navigation and also the feeling of "slowness" that Microsoft has not hidden and that it will solve with future updates. Nothing serious or striking then, we are talking about youth imperfections. Far more worthy of attention is the Blu-Ray player. Having ascertained that many models were found to be defective, we report the case, always minimal in terms of percentage, which can lead the console to not even read the disc once it has been inserted. Specifically, and speaking from experience, we have noticed that even with discs in perfect health, the console sometimes refuses to start playing them. The most obvious thing would be to reboot but sometimes this classic and due method works, other times it doesn't. By pure chance, this writer happened to not insert a disc well and hear the typical noise of the player trying to "pull in" the game without succeeding. Once inserted correctly, the reading is back to working. Going by logic, we think that the reading mode for a software bug does not start and for this reason it is preferable to restart the console, and if that were not enough, apply this little trick from a nerd housewife of the twenty-first century: Insert for half a centimeter the player disc so that it tries to insert it into the console but fails. At the end of the “noise” that the wheels make at the end of the idle stroke: push the disc correctly. At this point, reading should resume smoothly. It may seem silly but it has worked for us several times. It is certainly a software problem as neither player nor Blu-Ray in possession are damaged.
